Out West- 2013

We love to travel. We are lucky to get to travel. Counting our blessings, I'm back blogging now. For the past year we've been very busy overseeing a new house construction project for our family. It takes time- even in your sleep!

This summer we were nearing the end of our personal project and although my photography never ceased, my blogging took a back seat! Alas, we are moved in now and I'm enjoying taking the time to cull, edit and blog about my photography. Life seems to be "normal".

This summer we choose to go back to Yellowstone. We visited the 1st time in 2010. Since that visit, my brother-in-law, sister-in-law and baby niece moved from Alabama to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Lucky for us, we wanted to go visit them and do some more sightseeing. We love it out West! The kids LOVE it. Paul and I enjoy watching the kids take it all in. The culture is different from our everyday life. We arrived in Jackson Hole right as the sun was setting over the Tetons! It was breathtaking and at that moment I had the thought that we needed to take this trip every year! We were ecstatic to be at Andrew, Debbie, Alex and Judge's new surroundings.

Early on in the planning process, Paul was able to get us rooms at the Old Faithful Inn. Beggars can't be choosers, so the next day after arriving we drove a couple of hours into Yellowstone. I find Yellowstone fascinating and captivating. I was truly giddy to travel with my lenses of choice and capture this trip better than the last time. I now have so many pictures I'd like to share. I've decided to back blog in installments.  Digesting our trip little chunks at a time.

Enjoy!

New Niece

It happened! My brother met the girl of his dreams, got married and had a baby!

A sweet baby girl, Sayla Mae.

We were thrilled to go meet our new, one day old niece and cousin. Of course I wanted my big girl camera with me, but I was also entering into our greeting very  gently. After all, it was a sweet new baby with exhausted parents. As I knocked on the hospital room door and instructed the rest of my eager family members to wait in the hall while I assessed the situation, I was greeted with my brother's hands and arms swaddling the baby. My heart melted and I quickly grabbed the shot. Moments like this happen in a blink and are meant to be savored forever! I hope this captures a memory of Sayla's first hours for them. I know I'm touched.

(Born May 24, 2013- I'm back writing. Catching up from completing a new house build and move)
